Cologne-based Pandora Film with „Sky“ in Toronto’s new competition

14|08|2015 The Toronto International Film Festival (10. - 20.09.) has announced the first titles from its programme. Three films funded by the Filmstiftung have been invited so far: the international co-production „Sky“ by Fabienne Berthaud, Alexander Sokurov's documentary essay „Francofonia“ and the documentary „Return of the Atom“ by Mika Taanila. [more]


First open call for new German-French funding programme

13|08|2015 The German-French agreement for the joint development of TV fiction series was signed on 18 May, 2015 during the 68th Cannes Film Festival. The aim of the fund is to develop TV fiction series that can be made as German-French co-productions. 29|07|2015  The documentary essay „Francofonia" by Alexander Sokurov is competing at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival in the competition for the Golden Lion. The French-German-Dutch co-production about the Louvre and its unknown history under the German occupation was backed by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW with 85,000 Euros. [more]

NRW-funded drama „Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer“ to celebrate world premiere in Locarno

15|07|2015 Great cinema under the open sky: „The State vs. Fritz Bauer“ by Lars Kraume will celebrate its world premiere on the Piazza Grande at the 68th Festival del film Locarno, where up to 8,000 spectators can enjoy films in open air screenings each evening. Funded by the Filmstiftung with a total 1.2 million Euros, the drama was largely shot in NRW.  [more]

28|04|2015 The 61st edition of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, the world's most significant and oldest short film festival, will take place in Oberhausen's Lichtburg from 30 April to 5 May, 2015. Jubilee: 150th meeting of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW’s funding committee

22|04|2015 The most important decision-making body of NRW's film funding infastructure, the main jury of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, met this week for the 150th time in order to take decisions on the funding of film and TV projects from North Rhine-Westphalia. Tribeca Film Festival in New York with three NRW co-productions

13|04|2015 The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW is represented at the 14th edition of New York's Tribeca Film Festival (15 - 26 April) with three films. The competition has invited "Sworn Virgin" ("Vergine giurata") by Laura Bispuri. Fatih Akin's "The Cut" will be presented in Spotlight and "El Cinco" by Adrián Biniez will screen in the Viewpoints sidebar. [more]
